What does the status date mean? Forum

I know this gets asked to law schools a lot but I couldn't find a clear answer.

What does it mean when your applications current status date changes but not the current status? My date changed to a recent date. When I looked before that my status date was of the day my application was completed.

Anyone know what does it mean when the status date changes but not the status? Is it going through steps of review or what?
