median/25th-75th percentile?
I'm applying to school that has a median 3.48 GPA. Their 25&75th percentile are 3.33&3.80.
What do the percentiles means? My GPA is a 3.43. Does that mean I have a fair chance?

The 25th percentile means that 25% of the incoming class was below said cutoff; the 75th percentile means that another 25% was above said cutoff. Considering that your GPA is below the median, you would need an LSAT score above the median to have a fair chance, and ideally your LSAT would be above the 75th percentile to give yourself a great chance at both acceptance and scholarship money.Apate19 wrote:I'm applying to school that has a median 3.48 GPA. imagine pooling the gpas of every entering student, then stacking them from lowest to highest.Apate19 wrote:I'm applying to school that has a median 3.48 GPA. Their 25&75th percentile are 3.33&3.80.

the "median" value is the one that's right in the middle.
you are close to, but below, the median, which means a little over half of last year's entering class had gpas at least as high as yours.

If the schools gpa median is that low you should probably avoid it

I'm perplexed because based on the c/o 2017 spreadsheet, this is no school with this spread haha.Mack.Hambleton wrote:If the schools gpa median is that low you should probably avoid it

also if you can't find your school on the median spreadsheet, it's probably not a good schoolscottidsntknow wrote:I'm perplexed because based on the c/o 2017 spreadsheet, this is no school with this spread haha.Mack.Hambleton wrote:If the schools gpa median is that low you should probably avoid it

I think it's either UNC or Seton Hall.
