I have a confusion with the LSAC. I have a course on my transcript called ACA 090 STUDY SKILLS. I received an A in the course but the credits and grade don't count towards my GPA. The thing is that though not included in my GPA calculation, its still a 3 credit course and my semester total earned credits for that semester includes that class. I took this class as a requirement for my early college program, not a remedial course.

LSAC is telling me that its a remedial class and they won't count it. Here is what their policy states on which grades will be excluded:
"Those given for remedial courses only if the transcript clearly indicates they are remedial." -- ONLY IF CLEARLY indicates its remedial

No where on my transcript it says at all that its a remedial course. Should I pursue this further? Because it can take my GPA from a 3.59 to a 3.60. That makes a lot of difference in how it looks because I basically get a 3.6 from a 3.5.

Any advice?

At a lot of schools any course with a number under 100 is defined as remedial.

I had found a page that had transcript policies by school but haven't found it again.

You could ask your undergrad institution if they consider any course under 100 remedial. If not, maybe they could send a letter to LSAC? I don't know if that would persuade LSAC or not.

Wouldn't hurt to try contacting LSAC about it. At the very least you'll find out why they did what they did

After consulting the google, "ACA 090 Study Skills" appears to be a course offed at multiple schools, funded by the Federal TRIO/SSS program, which encourages post-secondary education and helps students meet basic course requirements. Some schools don't mention the Federal funding, but do explicitly describe it as "pre-curriculum." I don't think you're going to win an argument over whether it's remedial or not, unless you can claim that your school's "ACA 090 Study Skills" was something entirely different.

In general, courses numbered below 100 are remedial (at schools that use the common numbering system).

BTW, that 0.01 is not taking you from 3.5 to 3.6, since your GPA will never be shown with only one decimal place.

Would a school really care about the difference between a 3.60 and a 3.59? Doesn't the use of medians kind of make that irrelevant?

Hm. Thanks for the info guys. I just feel like since LSAC are such a policy following institution, their policy states it won't be counted as remedial unless the transcript clearly says its remedial.

I guess theres no use in arguing with them though.

I'm not suggesting you should argue with them but you should definitely ask the question. I don't know for sure but I'm guess there is a team at LSAC reviewing these things and making judgement calls (I might be 100% wrong about this). It's possible someone could make a mistake or not follow policy to the letter.
