Word Count and the Yale 250
This might be a dumb question, but would the title "250-Word Essay" count as two words against my 250-word count? Thanks in advance.

Asha prob addressed this somewhere official, so keep googling...but I know I wouldn't want to risk it!

Any reason why you feel you have to include a title? If you're concerned then remove it.
As far as if it counts, I doubt it does. The essay itself is limited to 250 words, nothing else. So for example if you included your name or LSAC number I can't imagine it'd count, and the same with a title.
Also, Asha has implied that they that probably don't count bit its a possibility and in very bad form to go over 250 for the essay. Haven't seen her address title anywhere

For my PS and all of my addenda, I had a header that had my full name, LSAC number and a label stating what it was, like this:
Leslie Knope - L1234567 - Optional Essay
that way it was unobtrusive but clearly labeled. I doubt it would count towards the WC.

Sidenote: how do you format it? Like just one 250 word "blob" or are you supposed to separate paragraphs the same way you ordinarily would?

I labeled all of my attachments like Leslie.
Here's what I found on the matter: http://blogs.law.yale.edu/blogs/admissi ... tters.aspx
She says that you don't need a title but it's fine to add one.

I broke mine up into paragraphs like a normal essay, but I guess you could leave it in a bigger chunk if you preferred.jw316 wrote:Sidenote: how do you format it? Like just one 250 word "blob" or are you supposed to separate paragraphs the same way you ordinarily would?

Re: Word Count and the Yale 250
In the mailing Yale sent out they included examples of 250's, almost all (if not all) of which had several paragraphs. So i'd venture a guess that they want the latter, not the former.jw316 wrote:Sidenote: how do you format it?
