LSAC GPA or School GPA
Last semester I didn't do so well in my classes. I didn't fail any of them but I got a poor GPA. Now my school allows me to re-take up to 15 credits of classes with the most recent grade only counting towards the GPA, however both grades would be listed on my transcript. With that in mind wouldn't it make more sense for me to take easy classes to boost my GPA as opposed to repeating Analytical Chemistry/Lab so that I could easily get an A in the newly taken classes (easy ones), instead of retaking the hard ones (Analytical Chemistry/Lab) and maybe getting a B? Even though retaking the class would improve my school GPA it would be to my benefit if I got A's in the next classes I took in terms of LSAC grades correct?

Well seeing as I very much plan on going to law school, and GPA is one of the more important factors would you recommend I take the easier classes? Or would law schools care to a certain extent that I retook those classes and proved that I could do well in them?

Take the classes that will increase your GPA the most. Period.

But since schools don't care, what is the point?Wahrheit wrote:It's also worth noting that retakes will increase BOTH your school GPA and LSAC GPA, whereas other easy classes will not increase your school GPA as much.jepper wrote:Take the classes that will increase your GPA the most. Period.

Re: LSAC GPA or School GPA
But since the LSAC GPA is more pertinent to me and what I plan on doing it would be in my best interest to make that as high as possible correct? So while retaking the class would improve my school GPA higher than not retaking the class. If I were to take an easier class and get an A in it as opposed to a B in the retaken class my LSAC GPA would be higher (which I should care more about right?)Wahrheit wrote:Depends on whether OP is going for honors etc and how the law schools view school GPA vs LSAC GPA. If you can score As on the retakes that would be my call.jepper wrote:But since schools don't care, what is the point?Wahrheit wrote:It's also worth noting that retakes will increase BOTH your school GPA and LSAC GPA, whereas other easy classes will not increase your school GPA as much.jepper wrote:Take the classes that will increase your GPA the most. I don't think international GPAs count. I think they just get rated somehow like superior, average, etc..
