Called Columbia asking for application fee waiver and...
they said they don't give them out. I tried explaining to them I'm looking for a merit based waiver (170 lsat, 3.9 gpa), but they insisted they don't do application fee waivers. They told me I should speak with LSAC if I wanted a waiver.
But how true is this? I'm seeing a lot of people on here saying they got a fee waiver from Columbia.
Something similar to this happened when I called NYU.
My stats are decent enough for waivers at those two schools right?
My situation is this: I only activated my CRS yesterday, so I have absolutely 0 fee waivers. I really want to get my applications out as soon as possible, what should I do?

Some schools seem like they only do them via CRS rather than responding to solicitations.

Columbia usually gives need-based fee waivers through CRS. They very rarely give out merit based waivers. in fact, i dont think ive met someone who has received one. You are also below their LSAT median so i dont think they would be that inclined to give you a fee waiver. I asked them for one back in August and they told me the same thing they told you and im above both medians. If you want to get in your application as soon as possible, then just submit it and pay the application fee. NYU, on the other hand, did give me a merit based fee waiver when i asked for one so maybe it's too late in the cycle or it could be that you are also below their lsat median. Just pay the fee.

Actually, Columbia sent me a merit waiver via CRS and I'm below both 25ths....I have no intention of applying, but they did send me one.

Columbia passes out merit fee waivers more than Palestinians pass out candy after some Jews get killed.

Both schools give them out. Sorry for your luck. Maybe they'll do another round after the Dec LSAT scores come out, but that's pretty late.
