At least the last two sentences should be deleted.

Sorry for your loss. While the adcomms may have compassion, the addendum for a low score will ultimately have very little weight. The only addendum you need is a successful retake. Good luck.

If your score does not accurately reflect your academic potential then I would wander why you are not retaking...I would also wonder why you didn't cancel your score prior to traveling to India. This addendum should not be sent. You should retake and if you score considerably higher then perhaps you write an addendum as to why you improved. But at this point, there is no reason why you should send an addendum when you have the opportunity to retake.cavalier2015 wrote:wow thank you! this is much cleanerbanjo wrote:did a quick clean-up of the language:
My September 2014 LSAT score does not accurately reflect my academic potential. On the night before the test, my parents informed me that my grandmother in India had passed away and that we would be flying to her funeral on the following day. I was extremely close to my grandmother and her passing deeply affected me. In addition, the proctor at the test center accidentally dropped the plastic bag containing my test materials, breaking my eyeglasses. My grief over the previous night's news and my poor vision during the test made it extremely difficult to concentrate. I was unable to cancel my score in the days following the test because I did not have internet access in my grandmother’s village in India.

At least when I took the LSAT in September, I had the opportunity to cancel on the day of--there was a check box on one of the last pages of the booklet that I could select. Did you not also have that option? I certainly got the impression that everyone did. If you did have the option, you are not being entirely truthful in stating that you were "unable to cancel." Maybe add a qualifier like, e.g., "in the days after the exam I was unable to cancel..."
Good luck on Saturday!

OP is taking again in December so hopefully things will go well. I would take out the part about not being able to cancel - not necessary. I think you should submit the addendum...those are valid reasons for not performing well.

Please just retake.
And if you absolutely need an addendum, drop the line about your grandmother passing the night before. The glasses issues is sufficient enough.
U might then explain why u weren't able to cancel because u were attending funerals overseas with no access to the internet. But really if u wanted to cancel you would have found a way to. Don't u have a few days to do so?
