When should I send in my NYU law school application?

Post by emilymoore04 » Fri Nov 14, 2014 2:23 pm

I'm applying to NYU law school. It's one of many law schools I am applying to, however, it is #1 on my list. I'd really like to go there. I have a really strong LSAT at 179. However, my GPA isn't so strong. I'd like my first semester senior grades to be factored into my GPA (it's matter of a difference between NYU seeing a 3.35 GPA or a 3.45 GPA. However, in order to do this I'd have to send in my application in mid-December?

Is it worth doing that? I've love for NYU to see my higher GPA, but I'm afraid that seats will have filled up quite a bit by then.

What should I do? I'm super nervous about this!

you could submit and tell them to wait for grades? your chances should be good either way

Damn. Nice job on the LSAT.
I'm sure Brut (TLS user) will weigh in here since he was a NYU splitter with a 179.

You won't be at a disadvantage applying in December as opposed to now. You can also just submit now and update them on your new GPA as soon as your get it in December.
You're still a splitter no matter a 3.35 or 3.45, so it doesn't especially matter. I get the worry about the perception though.

If your app is all set and ready to go, I'd probably send it.
If you still have to work on PS and all that jazz, I would take my time and send after grades come out.

Enjoy NYU! :D

You could also apply now and send an update to the admissions people with an updated transcript - they won't reject you by December with a 179 (if at all).

Apply now and update later with transcript. Your GPA might keep you out of HYS B, but you're in the running at CCN, especially NYU since it's the most splitter-friendly of the three.

Question: Why no ED to Northwestern?

I am applying to Northwestern, but I'm not applying anywhere ED because I'd like to negotiate $$$

I think that's generally a smart move, but Northwestern ED comes with a full ride.
