Just got my application in and completed for USC's ED program.
I'm just below their average gpa and LSAT (but still above their 25% on each). I know this makes it a reach school for me but i'm hoping for the best!

It's the first year USC is giving ED as an option. Just trying to see who else has applied ED to USC. Decisions should be out by December 19th so post on here if you get yours before then!

Also, if anyone has feedback on what they think will be the decision for me as a reach applicant that'd be cool too.

But since you're here, you should withdraw your application and retake the LSAT. With a higher LSAT score, you can probably get into a school with better job placement at a much lower price. At the very least, you should review USC's Law School Transparency report (http://www.lstscorereports.com/schools/usc/2013/) and understand what's at stake here.

usc is generally regarded as a trap school
professor paul campos, in defining the term 'trap school', actually cited USC as a paradigmatic example
despite a debt-financed cost of attendance of more than $304k at repayment
only 59.7% of the c/o 2013 found long-term, full-time, jd-required employment, minus solo practitioners and school-funded jobs
23.9% of the class is outright underemployed
unless you have someone paying your way, i cannot think of a good reason to apply ED to USC
i recommend you call admissions and ask to be shifted into the RD pool

USC at sticker is $55,000 a YEAR for TUITION alone. By the time your third year comes around, it'll be at $60,000.

That ominous figure does not even include cost of living (i.e. rent in LA, food, gas, health insurance, books, other fees).

If your folks are rich and paying for it, go crazy.

don't forget loan fees, interest, deferment period, and bar loans

at usc you don't have very good odds of getting a job that can pay off that kind of debt

op, one day you will look back at this day as the best day of your life
no one's saying you shouldn't go to usc
but if you're debt-financing law school, you definitely shouldn't be applying there ED

I realize the cost is extremely high and it's a bit crazy to be willing to pay full tuition here.

But I do have supportive and well-off parents who are paying for my law school stuff without having to take out loans. It was an extremely difficult decision to apply ED simply because I feel bad that they'd be paying for everything.

But I'm determined and willing to put in the work to get myself in a position to find a job after law school by earning my way into the top portion of my class.


I still appreciate the feedback though! And I'll make sure to post it in the right place next time

Can you negotiate your parents to give you the difference in tuition after you retake and get significant money to a USC-like school? That'd be a free 911 if you play it right

Yes, unless your parents are multimillionaires you should feel bad for spending their money on USC at sticker. I mean, seriously, there are plenty of people on TLS who think CCN at sticker is a bad idea.

I give up. Law students aren't victims of a scam; they are just dumb and stubborn and deserve what they get.

Cuz all of your classmates aren't thinking the exact same thing and aren't going to be working hard...

As a 1L, trust me, you aren't special. No matter which school you go to, you will be surrounded by people that grind away in the library all thinking they will be top 10% or whatever. Nobody thinks they'll end up median (or god forbid, below).
