Should I drop an elective course for the mark of "W"?
I am trying to decide if I should drop a course for the mark of "W" (it is non-punitive on my transcript at this point in time):
Some information about me:
-I am in the first semester of my senior year and have never dropped a course for the mark of "W".
-I have a 3.86 GPA and have not taken the LSAT yet.
-I have the potential of receiving a B or B+ in this course. This will drop my cumulative GPA down to a 3.84 (given that all goes well in my other classes). There is still the possibility of getting an A- at most in this class, but this is not guaranteed because the TA is an extremely tough grader.
-This was an elective philosophy course I took to boost my GPA, but it is turning out to do quite the opposite.
-I did not study as much as I would have liked for this particular class due to my inability to focus after learning about my father's illness (He was diagnosed with cancer again).
Some questions I have:
-Do I still have a chance for the T-14 schools if I drop this one class and write an addendum about my situation?
-Should I drop the course with a W or take a B/B+ and the drop in my GPA?
-Any other thoughts?
Thanks so much, everyone!

Take the W and write no addendum.

Was in a similar situation once.
Dropped the class.
No regrets.

Can you just Pass/Fail it if it's an elective?

Hi everyone,
Thanks so much for your responses!
Will this 1 W affect my admission chances for the T14 schools?

And I cannot pass/fail because that deadline was at the beginning of the semester. The only options I have are to continue with the class or drop it with a W.Cradle6 wrote:Can you just Pass/Fail it if it's an elective?
