How heavily do schools weigh bad classes?
First, thanks for all the regular members' posts. I have been lurking for a while and they have been really helpful during the application process.
I was wondering how much weight schools put into failing/or withdrawls from courses....
Long story short, with no excuses made, I am currently applying with a 3.1 cum and a 170 LSAT. Not shooting T-14, pretty set on regional schools of Temple or Richmond.
However, I have 2 W's and 2 F's on my UG record, so they have pulled my gpa down to 3.1. I have no really fine excuses, other then being a dumbass, and was wondering how much will this affect decision when they flip through the transcripts past by GPA and look at individual courses.
I have the numbers for these schools but these details are making me nervous as anything!
Thanks-

You're a shoe in for WUSTL. Do you want these lower ranked schools because of scholarships considerations?

That. They're also in wildly different places, you can't possibly have the requisite ties to attend both I wouldn't think?james.bungles wrote:dont go to temple or richmond
To answer your question- no school that will accept a 3.1 will care exactly how you got that 3.1

This is correct. Outside of the top schools, all they care about is your GPA.BigZuck wrote:james.bungles wrote:dont go to temple or richmond

Yeah OP, don't do this. By all means, apply. However, definitely don't limit yourself by not applying broadly. You will have much better options so don't undercut your prospects by being foolish.james.bungles wrote:dont go to temple or richmond with a 170

Thank you guys so much for the responses!
I do plan applying broadly... I seem to have overthought how much those particular grades could affect my admissions chances.
I do have strong ties to Philadelphia, making temple attractive. Plus its 20k for me as a resident.
But will definetely apply more broadly as well. Thanks!
