Re: Employer only LOR question
Poking around here you'll find that the consensus is to not write the letter yourself. Apparently adcoms can sniff that out. I'm in the same situation, having completed most of my courses online. My only contribution to this topic would be that I gave my recommenders a list of the type of things adcoms look for in candidates, and what makes successful law students. I asked them to do two things: First, explain how I excel doing those things (I'm a detective, so things like case research, public speaking, report writing, mediation and interrogation, etc.), and second, qualify themselves to speak to such things. Basically, because they are not professors, I wanted admissions to trust their judgment, so it was necessary for them to explain their background to an extent.dmarieb wrote:I am a few years out of UG and do not keep in contact with anyone and unfortunately did not think ahead. That said I have been working for a small legal company for over two years and I have the CEO, VP (who hired me and I worked closely with) and my direct supervisor offering to write a LOR. Is this sufficient? I'm not aiming for crazy high ranked schools - Miami is my goal (I have to stay in South FL).
Additionally - the VP asked me to draft the LOR myself and send to him for review. I'm uncomfortable because it doesn't seem like it will be genuine but also because I feel like I have to brag about myself. I have no idea what to include - any thoughts... please?!
Thanks!

Re: Employer only LOR question
I used only employer LOR last cycle and outperformed my numbers applying to pretty highly ranked schools. You'll be fine. Good luck.dmarieb wrote:I am a few years out of UG and do not keep in contact with anyone and unfortunately did not think ahead. That said I have been working for a small legal company for over two years and I have the CEO, VP (who hired me and I worked closely with) and my direct supervisor offering to write a LOR.
