apply now with LSAT scores (169, 166) or wait for dec lsat?

Post by blueberrybagel » Mon Oct 20, 2014 10:01 pm

hi all! i took the june lsat (169) and was hoping to break 170+ on the sept lsat, but just found out i got a rather disappointing 166. i've signed up to take the dec lsat (fingers crossed). i have a 3.93 GPA, and i'm aiming for t14. i know i have no shot at hys right now, but should i go ahead and apply for the lower t14 now?

also, what about ccn? my 169 (and 166) is below chicago and nyu's median of 170, but my gpa is above. i want to maximize the advantage of applying early, but i don't want to jeopardize my application if my numbers are too low. any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You should apply now to the whole T14. Since December will be your 3rd take, you are probably going somewhere next fall regardless of how December turns out and getting apps in early is always preferable. CCN are probably a coin flip thanks to that stellar GPA. If not, you are a lock for some great schools who will throw lots of money at you. Good luck with the December LSAT and with your cycle.

I think you can go ahead and apply. For schools were you are above both medians, they may render a decision before waiting for your December LSAT. For all the other schools, they will see that you registered for the December exam and won't make a decision until then. It won't hurt you for those schools but it won't help either since they will wait for the new score.
