GPA Addendum? Grade Deflation

Post by WeeBey » Sun Oct 12, 2014 12:58 pm

I went to U of Toronto and did a science major and in Canada we use a different grading policy than US schools. B's are not average here, most classes have a C+ average (classes with a D+ average are not uncommon in your freshman year). On my transcript it also shows what class average is however Im pretty sure schools dont see this since it all goes through LSAC and they just report a number. When I calculated my cGPA of all the class average for all the courses I took, it came out to a 2.36, while my gpa is a 3.31.

Should I write a GPA addendum for this explaining the grading policy? Since I can't find the official policy, would it be possible to somehow mail my transcript to each school?

Don't write an addendum. Schools don't care. And I don't think foreign GPAs are counted anyway.

Yes, they actually are, most schools aim for C+ here, and from what I see online, most of your schools have B averages

No one cares about grade deflation, especially at your gpa.

C+ is not uncommon at all for engineering majors in the US (can't speak personally for other majors). Get over it and don't write an addendum.

same here, I think schools won't care. they care about how are you going to contribute to their rankings.

I went to a u.s. news top20 school and find out the school has grade deflation. So, I transferred and I am on my way to break that 3.95 right now. yes.
