Rescheduling Interview (short notice)

Post by giantswan » Mon Oct 06, 2014 1:52 pm

I have a Skype interview scheduled with Northwestern for later this week. If I cancel it now (in order to reschedule) it would not be within 24 hours of the interview time but it is still pretty short notice. Would rescheduling negatively impact my application?

I am rescheduling for a multitude of reasons. Scheduling conflicts have arose which I could deal with however I also feel that I would be better off doing an in-person interview. I originally did not request this as I was unsure that I would be able to turn my application in by the deadline to request an off-campus interview (waiting on an LOR) but now I am able to and would prefer that option. I have no doubt that if I were to interview at a later date in person I would do much better during the interview - I am just not sure if it will be enough to balance out having to cancel my interview last minute.

Any advice is appreciated.

You're probably one of ten people your interviewer is speaking with tomorrow. The poor bastard interviewing you will probably be grateful. I don't quite understand your motives, but I don't think they matter. Just be respectful and reasonable. Apologize and reschedule. Ain't nobody got time to care.
