LSAC Forum
Has anyone been to one of these before? Did you find them to be useful? I've done a fair bit of research on my own as well as read these boards a ton - will there be much I could gain from it?
I'm from Canada, though just happen to be in San Francisco during the week that LSAC is holding their Bay Area forum. Thought I'd get opinions on whether it's worth checking out. If it makes a difference, the only US schools I'd be interested in are T-14 schools.

Re: LSAC Forum
I attended one this year and I found it very informative and helpful. I got to meet with several T-14 schools (Chicago, Stanford, Harvard, ect.) so I think it could be a good way to get your name on their radar and talk to some admissions people. They also have workshops which were decently helpful, but nothing earth shattering. Just make sure you bring questions for them, I forgot and it led to some awkward conversations with the school officials. If nothing else, you get lots of nice free pens and other things going, so it might be worth it just for that.

Yep, in fact I got a couple of fee waiver offers. If nothing else you are able to sign in with your name email and lsac number so that you get added to the school's contact list, I would think that that would help you get some fee waivers as well. Full disclosure I just took the Sept. LSAT so the only waivers I've gotten are from law schools I saw at the forum and a few TTTs, so how much it helped me is yet to be seen.BrazilBandit wrote:Do u remember receiving/seeing Fee Waivers being distributed?superpatton wrote:I attended one this year and I found it very informative and helpful. Re: LSAC Forum
Do the top schools ask you about your GPA/LSAT score or anything like that before handing out waivers or having in-depth conversations with you?
Do the T-14 people offer waivers there at all, or is that more the TTT's?

Re: LSAC Forum
I attended the Los Angeles forum a few weeks ago. It's pretty informative and fun, if you want to meet law school reps and are undecided. I saw all the T-14s except Harvard and Yale, I got a chuckle out of the fact that Harvard and Yale didn't show. The seminars are worthwhile if you're unfamiliar with anything about law school or the process of applying to it. However, if you've researched your decision and all that it entails, the seminars are not worth attending, although the financial aid seminar is pretty good. Its busy and hectic all day long, so wear something professional but comfortable.

I attended the Chicago forum a few weeks back. I thought the seminars were interesting and informative, especially the ones led by admissions representatives. The financial aid workshop was pretty good as well. I talked to several representatives from different schools, and all were very friendly and helpful in answering my questions. I got fee waivers from WUSTL and Ohio State for attending. I agree with the post above to wear comfortable clothes (but professional--I saw a few people in suits but most were business casual). I was there pretty much all day. I'd say it was worth going to.

Re: LSAC Forum
I think the highest ranked school I got a waiver from at the forum was Alabama, but I got a couple others from tier 1 schools. The TTTs handed them out like candy. I didn't get any from the T-14, but I got to meet with admissions officers and they got my email and account number, it was great just to ask them questions. Hopefully if the LSAT works out as planned I'll be on their contact list to get some waivers, but I'm honestly not sure if it will make a difference.
