When to apply for early?

When would be the best time for apply early decision? Now? before Thanksgiving? What about the schools don't have early?
I have no idea when to apply.

Apply ED before the ED deadline. (Unless it's Northwestern though, ED isn't advisable)
And the earlier the better all around because of rolling admissions.
