How would you handle the following question in the application? It's specifically pulled from Boston College's application.
"Are you applying, or have you applied, to other law schools? If so, please list them."
I am applying to other law schools, but would rather not list them nor do I want to lie.

There's no benefit in lying, and this would be easy for the bar to find out. You could call and ask from a blocked number. It's either a way of them assessing how much money they would need to give for you to attend or a way of assessing their own standing.
Logically, if it's say, Suffolk and you list Harvard with a 180 you are going to get a full ride or be rejected. You are a positive if you make them appear more selective and doesn't hurt you as you'd never attend anyway. I assumed my wait list acceptances to safety schools followed by alumni calls were completely about gaming rankings. My LOCIs had typos and spoke about school mascots. There was no way they took me from eh not great to 75k and phone call worthy.

This has nothing to do with how they evaluate your application, at all. It's purely for informational purposes, for schools to figure out who their competitors are for marketing purposes. You don't have to answer, no one will care, but it won't affect your application at all.

I actually listed all my schools on one application and did not list them on the other, just to see. Accepted to both.

notice the distinction between how they phrase that question and how they phrase their Character and Fitness questions

If it's an optional question, leave it blank. If it's required, just answer honestly and it probably won't affect you at all.
