TYPOS!!!

Post by matlan72 » Sun Sep 14, 2014 7:26 pm

Ok, so I submitted the majority of my apps this weekend and as I was reviewing the submitted apps I noticed a typo in my personal statement across three of the schools (Including my 1st choice)... And now I'm FREAKING out.

It's such a ridiculously small error I don't even think I should contact the schools (its' vs. its in one spot), I just feel like an idiot though. Can I get some opinions on this??? Will it really effect my chances, or will the committees likely not even notice it?

Was your LSAT/GPA above median?

Could hurt you, it shows carelessness.

Your bigger concern is the LSAT. Don't waste that GPA, retake!

Retake. No reason to roll with a 162/3.8.

Hopefully its' not indicative of a largely sloppy and haphazard PS.
A typo isn't an auto-ding, but a crappy PS in terms of message quality might be.
You're probably fine but don't expect a scholarship. Your dream school, no matter which one it is, will be a foolish choice come spring.

You're fine OP - don't stress. I discovered a pretty glaring typo (repeated word) in literally the opening line of my DS after submitting almost all of my apps last cycle. My numbers were around median for where I was shooting, but certainly nothing to call home about. I was beating myself up over the typo but everything worked out fine - currently a 1L at CCN. Here's the thread I made last cycle for the same thing. One typo won't kill an otherwise solid app. Good luck!
