How do T4's respond to queries about big law and clerkship
I suspect that there has been a thread about this at some point, but I can't find it. I'm just super curious - how do the t4 toilet's generally respond to questions about biglaw placement and federal clerkships?

I would imagine that they most reassuringly point to a graduate from the 70s or 80s that landed biglaw/clerkship and tell you it could happen to you too!
Because they want your money.

There are handfuls of students who get those jobs though, so they are probably referred to.

There are some TTTTs (unranked) schools that place ~ 5-10% in biglaw+fedclerk, comparable to some TTs.
Suffolk, John Marshall - Chicago, U of San Francisco, Mississippi College, Northern Kentucky U, Northern Illinois U, and probably a handful more.

% of Grads who are Federal Clerks or Employed in Firms with 100+ employeeseriedoctrine wrote:There are some TTTTs (unranked) schools that place ~ 5-10% in biglaw+fedclerk, comparable to some TTs.

Suffolk 6.7%
John Marshall 4.3%
San Francisco 5.0%
Mississippi 4.8%
Northern KY 4.4%
Northern IL 5.1%
5-10% is a little high. Just wanted to put this out there incase a 0L stumbles upon this and foolishly thinks these are good options for pursuing their BigLaw dreams.

Oh yeah, probably 5-7% is probably more accurate.Dirigo wrote:% of Grads who are Federal Clerks or Employed in Firms with 100+ employeeseriedoctrine wrote:There are some TTTTs (unranked) schools that place ~ 5-10% in biglaw+fedclerk, comparable to some TTs.

I don't remember the numbers exactly. I know Suffolk was around 9% in the past.
However if we're going up a level to TTT, then there are many many more in the 7 - 10% range. Duquesne quickly comes to mind.
Edit: Still no reason to attend these schools though. General employment score and tuition is just too ridiculous to consider.

If only every 0L was forced to look up each school they're considering.

I went to a visit day at u cincy (not T4) a couple years ago bc I was in the area and posed the question and the response I got was "we have a number of grads in large firms so its a definite possibility".

Yeah they'll probably say most people don't come in with that as a goal and instead look to work in public service/small firms but if that's what you want to do our career services will help you do that and blah blah blah alumni network blah blah blah enjoy unemployment.

Yeah, I imagine it's vague cherrypicking with a little, "Well, most of our students gravitate towards other things, but..."

They can also spin it and say, "A third of our graduates who end up working in private firms end up in large firms.
