Do you have any reason for the dip that adcomms would want to know about? did you get cancer or were you homeless or did you have to care for an ill family member or the like? if you just want to say "the rest of my GPA is more representative," then no, there's no reason to write an addendum.

I didn't mean you were making up anything, it's just that you didn't suggest you had any actual reason for the dip. If you had a reason, you should explain that so people can actually evaluate whether an addendum will help you. There are plenty of people who want to just say "look at this part of my GPA, not that part," and that's not helpful. It also probably depends on what you mean by a "slight" dip and what overall GPA you're talking about.

It's still above a 4, so you're above every 75th, so what is there really to explain away? That your grades ended up being merely excellent instead of exceptional?

above a 4.0 before and after (LSAC calculated)
3.6 last year

yes addendum/no addendum?
I don't think it's necessary, because the cumulative is all anyone cares about. But if you want to write one, again, only do so if there's some kind of good reason - that is, something that happened to you outside your control.
