Good ol' C&F Question

Post by pdt1765 » Fri Aug 22, 2014 2:13 pm

So in my junior year of college for one of my essays, I used as one of my points something I got from the internet. The content was mine but the professor found where I got the original idea from. Long story short, I got a verbal warning and half credit on the essay. I'm going to disclose the information to the law schools, but I am curious as to how admissions offices and eventually the bar will look at this. Any help is appreciated thanks.

I don't know if anyone can answer this definitively, but I imagine adcoms take plagiarism pretty seriously. I would focus on writing a substantial disclosure that takes full responsibility for what you did and doesn't attempt to downplay or diminish the gravity of it. I would mention how deeply remorseful you are and what you learned from your mistake.

Don't attempt to dance around the fact that this was plagiarism, as you seem to do in this post. Own up in full.
