Re: Character and Fitness Question
If this is the case you should ask your college to submit a "Letter of Good Standing" to indicate that you have no recorded disciplinary incidents at your school. Law schools will not fault you for disclosing an incident and then getting a letter of good standing. They may double check with the school but that shouldn't be a problem.psychmusic wrote:I imagine that at least some other people have a similar issue to this, but I haven't found anything so far and I was looking for some advice.
My freshman year of college I was written up for something like being in a dorm room with drinking game paraphernalia (solo cups, ping pong balls, etc.). When a C&F section of an application includes things like "warned" or "disciplined" I take it to mean that I should include this incident. For some schools, when I've clicked "Yes" to that question, though, I get a pop up saying that I will need to have an official from my college submit a full description directly to the law school's office of admissions. The tricky thing is that I've contacted my college and they don't have record of the incident because it was very minor and they don't keep those records after someone has graduated (and I graduated a few years ago).
Has anyone encountered something like this before, or have any advice on how to deal with it?
I had a somewhat similar experience when I applied to Duke. There were no issues.
