academic renewal

Post by secondshot » Thu Aug 14, 2014 12:07 pm

Hey guys, I'm having a couple D'd and F's academically renewed at an old CC. LSAC will not count those when weighing my GPA, right?

If your transcript shows them, yes.

Not sure what you mean. It will show AR, not the grade. So how does LSAC calculate that? Or do they?

Just got back from the CC (they opened on a Saturday) and got approved for the AR, for 3 F's (no D's like I thought I had). However they said on the transcript you will still see the 3 F's, but they will be noted as academically renewed and will not be reflected in the transcripts GPA. Still worried LSAC will calculate them as F's. I guess we'll see.

Anyone else ever deal with AR's?

Oh, the good news is, my GPA with these 3 renewals keeps my GPA at 3.9.

LSAC will count them.

If you can figure out just by looking at your transcript that you attempted x hours of credit and received x grade, it will be included in the summary.

LSAC will count them.

Ditto -- general rule of thumb is if the grade appears on your transcript, LSAC will count it (no matter what the circumstances).
I haven't had personal experiences with ARs, but for Incompletes or failed grades with retakes/etc., they'll still count the failed grade and the Incomplete as a 0 even though you have the retaken/completed grade next to it (they'll also count them, so it'll be like two grades for the one class).
