Family Business on Resume

Post by should-i-do-it » Thu Jul 10, 2014 6:15 pm

I've "worked" at my parents business for the past few years. I never got an official salary though. Should I put this on my resume. I was thinking of putting family business next to it.

Were you working, or were you "working"?

I worked the cash register. The reason I'm asking is that since I never officially got payed should I put it down and just put family business next to it.

Meh. It doesn't really add anything to your resume, but if you need filler, you need filler.

Yeah, then just put down your duties. I don't think you have to put that it's a family business, but I would. It comes across as helping support your family, which sounds better than working a random min-wage job (not that there's anything wrong with that, any work experience is a positive).
