Military Academy Graduate, Mediocre LSAT. Need Advice. Forum

I am a military academy graduate and currently serving my five years that I owe for my undergraduate education. My undergraduate resume is awesome. I was an all-American athlete, the most "senior cadet" at the academy for a semester, one of the founders of our gay-straight alliance upon the repeal of DADT, was mock trial treasurer, and earned 3rd place at an international law competition in Italy. I also am in the political honor society, and had a 3.1 GPA (my GPA is not higher due to all the math and science requirements for my B.S in government).

I rushed to take the LSATs so that I could meet a deadline for the JAG program. With getting underway, and my military obligations / qualifications, my first year left did not allow me to have several months in a row to study...I got a 156 on the June 2014 LSAT.

Even if I don't get into the military law school program, What kind of law school can I expect to get into? Should I take it again or do I have the makings to get into a decent Law School? I'm looking to apply to law school after my 5 year commitment if I don't get picked up for the JAG program.

3. With a 3.1 and 156, you are probably competitive for a Top-30 or so school. Where do you want to go? I suspect, however, that with a 156 you may not be overly competitive for the JAG program, especially as they are limiting the slots from the military, the FLEP program specifically.

4. Remember, your personal statement and resume are likely to be looked at by a veteran student or someone qualified at the school. The Top 3, Yale and Harvard specifically, have very, very robust veteran student organizations, and have a long and close relationship with the military community.

Obviously retake. If you're an academy dude, you're not getting the GI bill and every LSAT point means more scholarships if you go after your ETS.

Retake. If memory serves me, I do believe the FLEP program requires a minimum 158 LSAT, so you need to raise your score to even apply.

Depends on where and what you want to work. Realize that most law schools other than the T1's are regional based so where you go to law school depnds on where you live/work when you graduate. My statistics are pretty close to yours and I was able to get into both my primary and backup school. I did not get JAG so I delayed enrollemnt and am going to attend in 2015. PM if you have any additional questions/comments.

Also if you feel you could do much better on the LSAT, I would retake the test and take a course to prepare for it, then you would have a much better shot at going to a tier 1 school.

There were no minimum LSAT scores for the 2014 board, granted i'm not sure if that will chagne for 2015. just FYI
