Multiple WP's on transcript

Post by BadReligion69 » Fri Jul 04, 2014 8:15 pm

Hi guys,

So I am sort of a GPA whore and am sitting on a 3.93 at a top public school. I dropped a class last semester (WP - non punitive) and am now considering also dropping my accounting class that I am taking this summer because I am projected to make a B in the class which will bring my GPA down to 3.85. Maybe I am just trying to be too perfect and should get over myself. Is this a good idea? Should I just tough it out and take the B? The W's are non punitive but how will two W's look to an admissions officer?

Thanks for the help.

If it's only your second W it shouldn't negatively affect your application.

In addition, W and an A is definitely better both for your GPA (obviously) and your transcript than a B, especially when your GPA is that high.

Thanks for the response.

So is it better to get a W or a B? Let's say these are my only two withdrawals in UG.

Definitely a W, the drop in GPA would hurt much more than a 2nd W. I highly doubt 2 W's would have a tangible negative impact on any application but if it does it would be extremely minimal - your GPA has far more weight.

3.85 v 3.93 won't be the deal breaker if your LSAT sucks-but 2 Ws are no big deal-just drop the class.

I'd much rather have a W than a B if it wouldn't otherwise impact me graduating on time.
