Re: How to get a full-tuition scholarship with a 172
Full-ride scholarships are hard to predict but your numbers give you a great shot at schools in the lower T-14. I suggest blanketing the entire T-14 and also making sure you put some thought and effort into any optional supplemental essays in the application.

Cornell gave out loads of $150-165K scholarships this cycle to people with equal or lesser numbers. Northwestern should give you a ton of money as well; you could try ED, but they'd still give you a full-tuition scholarship or close to it if they rolled you over to RD. Those two are your best bets for merit aid in the T14, but you should just apply to the entire T14 (except Y, unless you think you'd regret it later) and see what happens.

Applying early also helps because some schools interview for their full-tuition scholarships and start picking people to interview on the early side of the application cycle.

Just apply to the T14 and see what happens. Not sure what the point of the thread is to be totally honest. "What to think about?" Happy thoughts, I guess?
If what you're asking is "I really want a full ride wherever I go, how low should I dip?" I probably wouldn't apply anywhere not in the top 20 or so. I'm sure at least one of those schools will pony up big cash and if not there is a serious problem with your app and you should sit out a cycle, fix it, and then reapply the next year. I'm sure there are some "T2s" that will give you a full ride but it would be a true tragedy if your best option was like, LSU on a full ride.

Because Yale is exceedingly unlikely to admit a non-URM below both medians. But it's Yale, so anything could happen as long as every other component of your app is stellar.aad993 wrote:Thanks.

If I were in your position, I'd apply anyway. Some other folks don't care to spend $100+ on something that's virtually certain not to pan out, but avoiding regrets down the road would be worth the money to me.
