URM African-American Male, Summer before Junior Year

Post by CeRePa » Sun Jun 29, 2014 9:33 am

Hello everyone. I just wanted to pool advice on what I should do for the summer before my junior year. I've just finished taking 2 online classes so taking summer courses isn't an option. I start school in August. I also have a 3.5 GPA (am I walking on thin water?). If your only advice for me is to attain A's my next school year, could you post methods on surefire ways to get A's? It may sound ridiculous but I have received B's in classes I felt I've done better in..

Have you started studying for the lsat? If not you will want to think about doing that. You have a pretty decent GPA now and you can probably get it up to a 3.6X after this year. I'm not sure I understand your question though..what do you mean surefire ways to get A's? lol The only thing that I can think of is to not take hard classes and to take every assignment seriously and go to your professors' office hours.

I'm not quite sure why summer classes are not an option, is there a limit or is it financial?

Either way, an option to improve your gpa would be to take classes at a local community college. Easy ones that are basically guaranteed A's. Any courses taken prior to UG graduation are included in your LSAC gpa and those would average in nicely if you are able to take them.
