Should I intern at a law firm?
I am a little concerned that my lack of law experience will hurt me in this application process. I recently graduated with a degree in Molecular and Microbiology. I was accepted to pharmacy school but I decided not to go because I wanted to be a pharmacist for the wrong reasons ($$$). I have always wanted to be a lawyer, and I am particularly interested in pursuing a career at the intersection of healthcare and law and ultimately making the transition into academia. I have worked in a hospital pharmacy as a technician, a lab doing bench research, and have been a teaching assistant for two classes. I currently work as a Health Care analyst for an Equity Research company.
Stats:
3.4x, LSAT June: ??? (My guess is 162-166) with the intention of retaking in September.
My target schools are UVA and Penn and I intend on EDing depending on my September scores.
Should I pursue a legal internship? Or should I continue doing what I have been doing?
Thank you for any help in advance.

Thank you for the quick response. Are you referring to OCI or admissions interviews or both?sublime wrote:Won't matter to admissions, may have some small effect on interviews once you are there.
By far the best reason to do this is for you to find out if you really want to be a lawyer.

Everything he said, except that it's unlikely to matter for employment, and depending on what you want to do, it may even hurt to leave the job you have now.sublime wrote:Won't matter to admissions, may have some small effect on interviews once you are there.

OCI, since admissions interviews fall under "won't matter to admissions."Arad wrote:Thank you for the quick response. Are you referring to OCI or admissions interviews or both?sublime wrote:Won't matter to admissions, may have some small effect on interviews once you are there.

IMO you'll need a higher LSAT than 166 to get into those schools with that GPA, even through ED, so study hard and good luck.

I'm fully aware of that. Unfortunately I got extremely nervous during the first section of the exam and couldn't focus to save my life... My practice scores were in the 170s, but I truly bombed the first section and part of the 2nd section. I intend on studying harder than before and hopefully scoring 170+Yea All Right wrote:IMO you'll need a higher LSAT than 166 to get into those schools with that GPA, even through ED, so study hard and good luck.

are you really rich or something
if not, don't apply ed
you'll lose all ability to consider other offers or negotiate scholarships
getting locked into sticker is scary
if you don't have the numbers to get in rd, it's almost always a better decision to sit out a cycle and retake
