Work Experience -- Is this strong enough for t14

Post by swcp7 » Thu Jun 26, 2014 10:42 pm

Hello Sirs,

First post here. Since I am planning on applying for law schools I was wondering about work experience. My work experience is a little different then other things I have been reading here, so I thought I would ask your thoughts.

I have worked my way through my undergrad with profits from owning a business. Now, by no means is this business large. It is a smaller business, but also, quite successful. Throughout owning it I have experienced and done a lot of things I don't think many undergrads have. I have experienced buying out my partner, working with a manufacturer, managing employees, and a whole slew of other things. I also have been ranked in the top 25 student entrepreneurs for my state.

On a side note. I also interned for the summer at an NGO in Phnom Penh, Cambodia as a public health worker. I ended up writing a governmental document in regards to the fortification of fish sauce and vegetable oil.

I don't know if that matters, but I thought I'd ask.

Just wondering how much this would add to my law school ambitions.

Thanks!!!!

I mean, it's interesting and will probably give you a small bump, but having competitive numbers is what will determine whether or not you get into t14 schools.

Considering 0 work experience is strong enough for T14, yes, your work experience is strong enough. It's your numbers that will make or break you.

It's a soft, your numbers will determine whether you get in or not. That being said, if you DO get in you will likely have a leg up during OCI as long as you get good grades in LS. Most K-JDs don't have anything close to that sort of work experience.
