Fee Waiver Question
Hi all,
I am a senior undergraduate student, that will finish up my bachelors degree in the fall (grad in December). I just took the LSAT for the first time this June, and I am planning to take it again in September. I will be applying for Law Schools come spring time, so that I will be enrolling in Fall 2015. However, I keep getting fee waivers from schools who think I am applying now (very late in the game) for Fall 2014. My question is, since I am registered through CRS, will I continue to get fee waivers? If anyone has any experience with this, I would greatly appreciate your insight. For example, a school I was questioning applying to (for when I eventually do), just sent me a fee waiver, and I would hate to lose that offer later down the road.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Fee Waiver Question
Yes you will still get waivers next year as long as you are enrolled in CRS. It also never never hurts to just email the admissions offices at schools that you are interested in applying to and ask if you are eligible for a waiver. I got at least 4-5 fee waivers that way.

Re: Fee Waiver Question
You will continue to get fee waivers for the next cycle. You can also ask schools for fee waivers and I recommend doing it because it could end up saving you a couple hundred dollars. You're getting fee waivers now this late in the cycle because schools are desperate to fill seats in their incoming classes. I got cold-offered a full ride at WUSTL for last cycle in July after I got my June score back.Matt09 wrote:Hi all,

Re: Fee Waiver Question
You can almost certainly expect more fee waivers in the next few months. If you want to be sure LSAC has you set for the correct application cycle in CRS, hover over the "My Account" tab at the top, then hover over "Profile" and select "Candidate Referral Service." On the question that says "Release my information to LSAC-member law schools, other programs, and/or other eligible organizations" make sure your answer is yes and set "Expected law school enrollment year" to 2015.

Re: Fee Waiver Question
The fee waivers will keep coming in and you can/should email the admissions office of schools asking for waivers as well. I emailed all the schools I was going to apply to and didn't get an automatic waiver from and more than half of them gave me one.Matt09 wrote:Hi all,

Re: Fee Waiver Question
FWIW, U Mich emailed me a few weeks ago saying that if I'm planning on applying next cycle (which I am), I should "re-register" for CRS in mid-August in order to get a fee waiver. Not sure what re-registering entails though. Has anyone else heard of this?

Re: Fee Waiver Question
Same. I'm sure it just means updating your application date for the 2014-2015 cycle. That's what I did anyway.xylocarp wrote:FWIW, U Mich emailed me a few weeks ago saying that if I'm planning on applying next cycle (which I am), I should "re-register" for CRS in mid-August in order to get a fee waiver. I still get fee waivers and I'm going to school in the fall...lol. Don't worry, they are a plenty.

Re: Fee Waiver Question
when you email and ask for fee waivers for schools..how do you do it? do you share your numbers or show interest for the school? i'm below the 25th percentile for GPA for the schools I want to go and am writing the September lsat to get my LSAT above the 75th. do i just wait for that score or email now asking? sorry if this is a dumb question

Re: Fee Waiver Question
I sent the following email to all of the schools that I asked for fee waivers. Most responded positively within a few days.cavalier2015 wrote:when you email and ask for fee waivers for schools..how do you do it? do you share your numbers or show interest for the school? i'm below the 25th percentile for GPA for the schools I want to go and am writing the September lsat to get my LSAT above the 75th. do i just wait for that score or email now asking? sorry if this is a dumb question
IMO, it doesn't hurt to wait until you have your September LSAT score because if it goes up it can only help you and at worst your highest score is the same as what you have now. You are going to wait to submit your applications until you have the September score anyway, so why rush on the fee waiver? To whom it may concern:
I was wondering if XXX Law School offers merit-based application fee waivers and if I would qualify for one. My information is:
LSDAS GPA: XXXX
LSAT SCORE: XXXX
LSAC ACCOUNT NUMBER: LXXXXXXXXX
Please also see my attached resume.
