Prospects and Advice??
I attended Grinnell College (a top 15 liberal arts school) and my UGPA was a 3.82. I really didn't know what I wanted to do coming out of college so I've been an Americorps volunteer for the past year with a pretty reputable non-profit, and I'm going to be spending next year in a leadership position within the organization. Is the Americorps experience something to highlight in my application? My last practice LSAT was a 166, but I've only been studying for a few weeks; I'm doing the real thing in September. So, besides kicking ass on the LSAT, is there anything else I really need to make sure I do in order to get in to T14 schools or even YHS?

Focus on the LSAT for now. If you have free time, contact professors for letters of rec and jot down some notes on what you might write for your PS. That's really it.
The key to a good job as a lawyer:
1. Get a good GPA
2. Get a good LSAT score
3. Get good grades on 6-8 1L exams

You don't need to post the same thread on multiple boards.
Banjo's right, LSAT first, focus on getting the number. And yeah, ask profs for LORs now; mine took months to come in.

I apologize. As you can probably tell, I'm pretty new to the site. Just thought the other thread was probably where I should have posted in the first place.Brut wrote:You don't need to post the same thread on multiple boards.

Thanks for being helpful. I really appreciate it since there doesn't always seem to be a lot of patience for newcomers...banjo wrote:Focus on the LSAT for now. If you have free time, contact professors for letters of rec and jot down some notes on what you might write for your PS. That's really it.

You can get this if you want it. You just have to be willing to put in the effort to get 175+ on the LSAT (a good safe range to get 1 of the three). Plan to prep for as long as you need.wjones451 wrote: or even YHS?

That's awesome to hear. I've been doing LSAT prep for probably 5-6 hours a day for the last few weeks. Do you have any recommendations for good self-guided study aids? I've heard Powerscore is good, but I've been using Kaplan, and it seems pretty decent as far as I can tell.flawschoolkid wrote:You can get this if you want it. Just popping in to say that the (free!) 7Sage logic games explanations are an amazing tool for self-study. I drilled logic games by type, not moving on to the next type until I felt very comfortable with the previous one. Anyway, I started a routine of doing a game, watching the 7Sage video, doing the game again, and then marking it to re-do later if it was still giving me trouble. Those videos are incredibly helpful!

I can't wait to check this site out! Thanks so much. I've been working on logic games pretty hard, so hopefully this will help.DebtAverse wrote:Just popping in to say that the (free!) 7Sage logic games explanations are an amazing tool for self-study.
