How to write an appeal letter? Forum

I have been rejected by my dream school. Yet, I am going to write an appeal letter to them, are there any appeal letter samples in this forum, just like the samples of letter of continued interest (LOCI) in this forum?

I have used the search function in this forum and not found any samples in this forum so far. Please help me to find a sample as I need it to appeal my admission result. Thank you.

If your LSAT isn't competitive, it would be far wiser to retake and reapply than appeal your decision. Same goes for your LORs, PS, and any other softs.

I really don't think you can appeal decisions. Just retake the LSAT, and score as high as you can.

It definitely sucks, but if there was even the smallest chance that they might have wanted you to matriculate this year, they would have kept you on a waitlist.

But this place is littered with retaker success stories; whatever your situation is, getting in w/ $$ next year is probably not as far out of reach as you think it is.

If they weren't swayed by your application why do you think they would be swayed by your appeal?

I know it sucks to get rejected but not once in all of the years I have been posting here have I heard of someone getting in on an appeal from any halfway decent school.

As others have said, your best bet is to retake the lsat. If you send an appeal it will reflect poorly upon your character and will work against you in the next admissions cycle.

Agree with all of the above posters - unless it was an obvious case of "yield protection", where your LSAT and GPA were SO high that the school just automatically assumed you'd end up going somewhere better, I don't think you have anything to gain by writing a letter that essentially says "I know you rejected me, but I *really* want to go to your school, so how about it?".

I appealed a decision with a new LSAT. Still got dinged, but they did ask for an updated résumé and stuff so it can happen if you're bringing something new to the table.

I recall reading on the admissions page for several schools that I applied to that their admission decisions are final and cannot be appealed. I think it's a little insulting to the adcomms to appeal their decision. It says you don't think they considered your application carefully. On the contrary, I think most adcomms give quite a lot of consideration to all apps, even ones below the number goals. They have a vested interest in the best students possible (while maintaining medians, of course).

Also, the OP never said he had anything new to appeal with. It sounded to me like he just didn't like the decision. Tough shit.

The only appeal letter your school will accept is a retake or the LSAT, a better application or both. Sorry my man. It also might not be a good idea to send one. Because if you apply next year, the school will remember that your whiner. And then they will look upon your next app the same way my avatar does. Not a good look.

I think the important part there is "significantly higher LSAT."

OP, don't do this. They rejected you. You saying "But...puh-leasssee?" is going to look immature and silly. If you really want to go there, you're going to need to bring something new to the table. Something like a higher LSAT score, maybe combined with work experience, etc.

I know a guy who successfully appealed to get into St. John's, but it's St. John's. I think he flew to the school to beg.
