1 more class left to graduate

Post by Veni_Vidi_Vici » Tue May 13, 2014 5:35 pm

I have one more class left in the summer.
I currently have a 4.0 GPA.
I am graduating early to prepare for the LSAT.
Realistically, what schools should I be aiming at? Also I don't have a lot of softs.

LSAT is the single most important factor in law school admissions. Discussing what schools you should target before you have an LSAT score is a waste of time. Congrats on your 4 point tho.

Mess around with the links Nova posted to get an idea if you are curious what your chances would be if you scored a 173 on the LSAT. Good luck!

Not to be a downer, but from what I've seen, most people don't score what they are PT'ing on the actual test. However, that's not to say you won't. If you do score in that range, definitely blanket the T14. You are a shoe-in for everywhere except for YHS I would think, and you should have a solid shot at those three as well. For now though, focus on the LSAT, knock it out of the park like you have been on your PT's, and you will be in a great spot. Good luck.

Softs absolutely matter, at least at HYS and for some T14 scholarships.

Get a good job w/ your 4.0, live your life for a couple years, develop some life and work experience, save some money. You'll be more attractive to school and employers, and probably be happier going back to school. Though feel free to take the LSAT now if you want.

I was generalizing; mea culpa. Softs don't matter too much at H, but they're crucial for YS and some T14 scholarships. Agreed.

Yeah. Once you're in 173/4.0 territory, softs matter. Of course, OP isn't there yet until that 173 is actually in hand.

What kind of softs are we talking about for HYS? I heard that YS care more than Harvard.

Take whatever time you're spending worrying about this, and study the lsat instead.

In my opinion join some clubs or volunteer so you can fill up a whole page of resume if it are worried about it, however more important is to stay near your 4.0, and good luck on the LSAT. Don't worry about it, with a 4.0 and 170+ LSAT you will be in a good place for 99% of career goals.

I honestly think you are in a pretty good position, try not to stress yourself out to much (I know easier said then done).

Typos are due to drink and phone, FYI.

Yeah brah.

Just go volunteer right now for something meaningful that contributed to the welfare of your community. Preferably with a legal aspect. Go visit prisons or something. Work at a homeless shelter. Deliver meals to elderly folks. Try to make a difference. And think about how you'll turn it into a good PS

Those aren't good softs anyway. My advice: don't go straight from undergrad to law school. Go get some work experience for a year or two first while you study for the LSAT.

There's an entire LSAT prep board here. Go there.

Will a 4.0/173 give me a good chance at Harvard?

Yes. That's above their GPA median, and at their LSAT one.

Does undergrad course selection matter?
I didn't take a lot of math/science classes.
