Masters student at Columbia - want to apply to law school

Post by DestroyingTheLSAT » Mon May 05, 2014 8:52 pm

Hey first post guys,

I am masters student at Columbia (graduating summer 2015) in a quant finance program. I am looking to get get into T14 law schools. Does anyone know how much the masters degree will help? Will it help more so if I ED Columbia? My GPA is 3.67-3.69 (Idk the official LSAC gpa) and I haven't taken the LSAT yet. Graduated USNews T20.

I am thinking of applying to law schools this cycle as I have time in the summer to study for the lsat. I want to work 1-2 years starting next summer but I want to apply this cycle, hopefully get accepted and defer a year or two... will this work? Any suggestions?

Anyways, thanks for the help!

EDIT: my program doesn't have any joint degrees with the law school.

It certainly won't hurt you and it will look nice on your application but I wouldn't expect it to give you any sort of appreciable bump.

Your numbers will get you what your numbers are supposed to get you, more likely than not.

Don't ED anywhere that doesn't offer serious financial incentives to ED, unless you're really rich. Destory the LSAT and the rest will take care of itself.
