How to fake an LoR?
I'm getting desperate with LoR's and will not be able to get someone to write one for me that will even remotely look legitimate. Has anyone here ever faked one and had it worked out? I have a couple of professionals/teachers in mind. As I understand it, Adcomms don't really contact them anyway... can someone affirm this?

This is incredibly unethical. Don't do it (assume this post isn't just trolling).hauntedchrist wrote:I'm getting desperate with LoR's and will not be able to get someone to write one for me that will even remotely look legitimate. you seriously can't find anyone to write you a LOR? a TA? an old boss? Anything is better than a fake LOR.

I don't know if a career in THE LAW is a good idea for you.
But for real, if there is nobody in your life who could write you a "remotely legitimate" LOR, you've gotta seriously reassess some stuff.
ETA: Shit, there was even a dude on here a month ago who said he had his mom write a LOR -- something like that is a much better idea.

Write it on a sticky note and mail it to the schools via FedEx Overnight so you know it gets there in a timely fashion.hauntedchrist wrote:I'm getting desperate with LoR's and will not be able to get someone to write one for me that will even remotely look legitimate. I apprecciate the advice and realize it's unethical, but if you were in my shoes you'd understand: I have nothing to lose and it's not like it's illegal.hauntedchrist wrote:Adcomms don't really contact them anyway... can someone affirm this?

Dude, just get a friend to write one for you. My friend wrote one of my LORs for last cycle. We volunteered together at a charity club thing. It didn't have any positive/negative effects on my cycle. I got into the schools with the expected amount of $$$ for my numbers. Granted, these weren't the greatest of schools. It's not the greatest of ideas, but it's better than faking one.

If you are going to write a fake LoR and sign a real person's name to it without them knowing, that's Forgery. It is 100% illegal.hauntedchrist wrote:it's not like it's illegal.
Not to mention that if you get caught, it is the easiest way to ensure that you fail C&E and never get admitted to the bar.

I'm not an alt, but I am genuinely curious if anyone has ever done this. I don't know if this is a taboo subject here but I'm trying to figure out if I can get away with this.Cal Trask wrote:what's with all the shitty alts lately?

LOL. There is, I would point out, at least one t14 school that emails letter writers to thank them for their effort.

No. This is just plain stupid. Here's what you do:hauntedchrist wrote: I'm not an alt, but I am genuinely curious if anyone has ever done this. I don't know if this is a taboo subject here but I'm trying to figure out if I can get away with this.
If that doesn't work:milkandcheerios wrote:you seriously can't find anyone to write you a LOR? a TA? an old boss? Anything is better than a fake LOR.
