How to find criminal record?
I was in a bar fight and spent the night in jail, over 15 years ago. I have no idea what the date was (or even year) and when I called the police department, they said they couldn't help me without details and nothing came up when they ran my name. But it definitely happened so I can't just dismiss it and not report it. Anyone know how to find your own criminal record? I want to have the details for whoever needs it when the time comes. BTW, it was the only criminal incident I've had with the law, so hopefully I'll get a pass by being honest about it and showing how I've grown from it.

You can request a background check on yourself from the FBI. It's a bit of a process, but nothing too crazy. Just have to submit a fee, fingerprints, and some docs. This, along with your addendum, should satisfy the school.secondshot wrote:I was in a bar fight and spent the night in jail, over 15 years ago. Do what Nucky said, or at least contact the state agency that oversees all law enforcement in your state.
Criminal records are not public records in all states and counties, so just because YOU can't find it on the court website doesn't mean anything.

Thanks guys, so I was digging around the FBI site per your suggestion and wasn't able to find the right link. Anyone gone through this before that could provide a direct link or point me to the right department? I'm in California, btw. Thanks again guys.
