As long as your GPA doesn't drop, no one will care.

Thats reassuring to hear. So no revoking of admissions and such then?transferror wrote:As long as your GPA doesn't drop, no one will care.
Do you think they'll care for scholarships purposes though? I'm trying to negotiate for a smidge more before I commit since deadline to commit is 4/15

No. They just need you to have a good GPA so they can appease the USNWR gods. How you got it won't matter. The fact that you slacked off in your last semester of UG won't matter. The scholarship offer is going to be based on an estimate of what it will take to get you to attend vs. how much they are willing to spend for your numbers vs. how bitchy/generous the staff feel that day.Moonlight wrote:Thats reassuring to hear. Re: Final Undergrad Semester grades
lol fair enough. I'm going to an ASD in the next 2 weeks and the Deans say they'd be interested in talking with me more for scholarships. Any suggestions on approaching that?transferror wrote:No. They just need you to have a good GPA so they can appease the USNWR gods. How you got it won't matter. Can school rescind acceptance if your final gpa drop by .1? Assuming that their acceptance did not hint at the possibility of the offer being revoked.

Yep, "school" can do whatever the fuck it wants. Legit schools won't do this, though. Can school rescind acceptance if your final gpa drop by .1?
You need to strike a balance of sincere/tough. They need to believe that their school is legitimately your #1 choice, but know that you choose based on what makes financial sense. They aren't going to tie up $$ making you an offer if they don't think you'll accept, and they aren't going to offer a penny more than they think is necessary to snag you. This should cover both bases.Moonlight wrote:lol fair enough. I'm going to an ASD in the next 2 weeks and the Deans say they'd be interested in talking with me more for scholarships. Hmm good point. Should I bring copies of the scholarships other schools gave me?transferror wrote:Yep, "school" can do whatever the fuck it wants. Legit schools won't do this, though. Can school rescind acceptance if your final gpa drop by .1?

If you're K-JD your last semester of grades doesn't matter, unless you update LSAC. Otherwise, the school reports the grades from LSAC.

What do you mean? Are you saying for the last semester grades we don't update them to LSAC but instead send them directly to the school? Is that how its normally done?

Re: Final Undergrad Semester grades
You send your final transcript to the law school you attend, but they don't update lsac with that info. That is just to make sure you actually graduated. For ranking purposes, they go off of the data from lsac.Moonlight wrote:scottidsntknow wrote:If you're K-JD your last semester of grades doesn't matter, unless you update LSAC. Hey so I'm wondering. Do you all think its worth it to work hard for my 6th consecutive Dean's list? If I withdraw from this one class and keep the other two, then I can't get my 6th consecutive Dean's List. Does anyone even care about how many Dean's lists we have?

Personally, I'm completely slacking because I don't care and it doesn't matter. I have a 3.79, might drop as low as a 3.70 and it's much more worth it to me to end with that, enjoy the rest of undergrad.

only thing to keep in mind is maybe graduating with honors or not, but it sounds like you'd probably graduate with honors either way

My school curves low, so our magna cutoff is 3.6. I'm solid, couldn't be happier.james.bungles wrote:only thing to keep in mind is maybe graduating with honors or not, but it sounds like you'd probably graduate with honors either way

Ours for Magna is 3.7 I'll make that cut off either way though. So far it sounds like no one cares about Dean's List for last semesterjames.bungles wrote:only thing to keep in mind is maybe graduating with honors or not, but it sounds like you'd probably graduate with honors either way

Well yeah dean's list literally means nothing. Think of firm bios if you've looked at any. They will list things like latin honors, but they wouldn't also then say "6 semesters of Dean's List."Moonlight wrote:Ours for Magna is 3.7 I'll make that cut off either way though. Re: Final Undergrad Semester grades
From your profile, looks like you'll have to take the LSAT again and reapply anyway, so I highly suggest you don't flake out this semester and lower your gpa.
