W's issue

Post by secondshot » Wed Apr 02, 2014 2:10 am

Hey guys, If you have a moment, can you look at this link and type in, "west los angeles college"? You will notice W's are in the "omitted" column. Do you think that means it will not be calculated in the LSAC GPA? I'm wondering because it's not necessarily in the "non-punitive" column.

Please take a look if you have a quick moment and let me know what you think:

Click "search by school name" Thanks again. :)

Looks like it won't be counted. Never seen that tool before but it's neat.

Yeah, it's a pretty cool tool. So what leads you to believe that it wont be counted? It wasnt under the nonpunitive, so I was a little skeptical. Thanks for your help.

Mainly that the other things it that category wouldn't be counted, and none of them are under non punitive either.

That's a cool tool, thanks for posting!

Funny story, even though that tool even shows that my undergrad excludes U's from the GPA, LSAC still counts it as an F. Awesome, right?!

Yeah, that's what made me nervous, but the JC's in question verified they will not count for me, so I'm breathing a little better. Crossing fingers for no surprises.

BTW, did you try to appeal considering their own website validates it shouldn't have counted?

No, I didn't. I called and asked them about it and they basically just said it is what it is. I thought about pushing the issue, but I didn't think it was worth it. Anyway it does say LSAC counts a U as an F even though the column next to it says it isn't calculated into the school's GPA. Thankfully I only had one, but it did make 0.07 difference  Oh well.

Just looked up your school and while it does say U's are excluded from the school GPA, it is not listed under the "excluded from lsac & school gpa" columns, so I don't really think you have an argument here anyway, right?

Exactly why I didn't pursue it, even though I hadn't seen that tool until today. :)
