Thinking about taking a W
So I'm taking 18 hours for my 3rd semester in a row and due to family illness am not able to keep up with all of them anymore. I'm considering dropping one or two classes to lighten the load. I would've otherwise been a graduating senior. I currently have a 4.0 in Econ from LSU and 167 lsat. I was going to reapply next cycle after a retake anyways. Is this a bad idea? My ideal schools are T-10 with my preference being UVA.

As long as it's a non-punitive W, you should drop it. You don't want to risk ruining that perfect GPA from fear of some adcomms mild disapproval.

So even a couple W's would be preferable to losing the 4.0?

Yes: be very very sure it's a nonpunitive W; a punitive one would be catastrophic for you. Otherwise yes, two Ws will not raise any eyebrows and is preferable to lower grades.Philafaler wrote:As long as it's a non-punitive W, you should drop it.
