The four-year, MPA/J.D. program enables students to combine the study of law and the study of public affairs.

The Woodrow Wilson School has formal joint degree arrangements with law schools at Columbia University, New York University and Stanford University. In addition, students have arranged joint degrees with law schools at the following universities: California at Berkeley, Chicago, Cornell, Duke, Georgetown, Michigan, North Carolina, Northwestern, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Yale.

Students admitted into the joint degree program spend five semesters at the cooperating law school and three semesters at the Woodrow Wilson School, thereby reducing by two semesters the time required to earn the two degrees.

Does anyone here have experience with this program? I just found out about it the other day and am really intrigued.

I am interested in government work, specifically with the judiciary, and potentially international law as well, so an MPA sounds like it may be useful. I am going to email Princeton and ask some questions, as I haven't found any testimonies of people who are in the program.

Im a 1L at one of the schools that WWS works with to do the joint jd/mpa. Do you guys think that we would be in the same "pool" of applicants as the other MPA's? If you guys have info besides what is on the website, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you -- I'm skeptical but it is worth asking. I have a nearly full-ride to Rutgers and could graduate without any debt, plus save even more $ and commute. It makes too much sense.

I would bet any amount of money that no one from Rutgers gets a job in international law. The jobs (if you mean clerk for the ICC, UN work etc) are incredibly scarce, and even people at the top of the class at T14s often strike out. Choose a more realistic career path.

Thank you. It's not much of a career path right now, it's just an idea. I'm also interested in government work and public service, and from what I have learned from alumni, Rutgers is an appropriate school (just maybe not on the same level as Princeton's MPA/JD)
