[Full disclosure: this is a shameless self-advertisement, but I hope this app will serve you all well.]

and as such the info has been deleted

Thanks again for free promo code. After playing around with the app for a little while I would say that I'm not sure it's incredibly useful for applying to law school or finding an internship, at least not any more helpful than some basic googling and research on wikipedia.

Having said that, I do think it's interesting from a political junkie perspective. If you want to just see some basic breakdowns of political statistics it's nice. However, the filtering options could be more helpful and advanced if you wanted to do some quick analysis. For example, when you filter by one stat you should be able to then order them by another i.e. filter by congressmen from Maine then display them by their alma mater. It doesn't seem that there is any quick way to do something like this currently, and you can't even see all stats on their bio cards, and this really limits the app's functionality.

Also one of the first things I did turned up an incorrect result, which is troubling. I filtered for congressmen that went to Smith College and Lamar Alexander came up. Pretty confusing considering he's a man, but I found that his wife went to Smith which might explain the confusion. But if this app is going to be used for any real legal or political research you have to work out errors like that.

I realize that my critique is totally off topic from what TLS is focused on, but like I said I don't see any substantial application for law school prospectives or students. Maybe better to target it for political science students and DC lobbyists/fundraisers.

Thanks for the feedback! This is exactly what I need to know in order to make the app better and and make it more useful to others like you.

Thanks for catching the error in the data - you should see a correction within an hour.

I do agree that this app is most useful for the political junkie. However, I thought it could also aid people in finding internships in a way Wikipedia really isn't built to handle by providing cross sections of groups that are unrelated but might create enough of a personal connection to help your resume stand out (e.g., Catholic grads of Yale).

Unless I'm misunderstanding you, I believe that you can "order them by another filter". Try adding the Maine filter and then looking at the options available under the alma mater category. You will see only the schools attended by congressmen from Maine. If you wish to order them by how many fit the criteria under that category (most common alma mater to least), that's coming in a later version :)

I guess you do have a point there, I wasn't really considering the other variables outside of state and alma mater. Personally I don't know if I have any specific profiles (i.e. Catholic grads of Yale, Women on the Energy and Power committee) that I would identify with to the point that it could land me a job, but I could see it being useful to others.
