There are dozens and dozens members of TLS who have been admitted to law schools with far worse offenses on their records, myself included. I seriously doubt it will influence your admissions in the least.

Hello everyone. I have joined these forums because I have had something bothering me for very long.

Like (well, maybe unlike) most aspiring lawyers, I was a rambunctious 18 year old, which has unfortunately led me to get one underage alcohol possession charge in NY and one underage drinking citation in PA (The New York one happened in March 2012 and the PA on happened in September 2012. I was in HS during the NY citation and was in my first month of college during the PA incident). Since then, I have stayed completely out of trouble and have a pretty decent GPA. I have not taken the LSAT yet as I am too young. That's next year.

I have very strong aspirations to go to law school. However, I am aware that there is a Character and Fitness portion for admittance to the bar. I will probably end up taking the NY and NJ exam when the time comes (about 5-6 years from now).

I like to plan ahead, and I would like to know how much this will effect me in applying to law school and gaining admittance to the bar. Of course, I plan to be honest and do not intend to hide anything from law schools or the bar when the time comes. I also will write an addendum.

Given that 4 years will pass since the citations when applying to law school and about 7 years would have passed by the time I am taking the bar, do you think it will be a huge problem when the time comes?

I am sorry for the long post, but advice from educated people would be great.

Like everyone else has said, it'll make no difference, but I would like to add that it is VERY important that you stay out of trouble moving forward, and display that you've matured since these things took place.
