I have just heard back from some schools - Advice Needed

Post by Zeeguy91 » Mon Mar 03, 2014 8:27 pm

Hey everyone, I was on here a little while ago, asking you all what you thought my chances were at the various law schools to which I had applied. To refresh your guys' memories, these are the schools I listed (22 in total):

Stanford, NYU, UVA, Berkeley, Michigan, Duke, Northwestern, Cornell, Georgetown, UT Austin, Vanderbilt, UCLA, USC, Washington University in St. Louis, George Washington University, Notre Dame, Emory, University of Washington, ASU, Boston University, University of Maryland, American University.

Well, now I've heard back from some of the schools I applied to, and I could use some advice.

So far, I've gotten into Washington University in St. Louis, Notre Dame, ASU, Emory, University of Maryland, and I just got into USC.

I have been rejected from Berkeley and GW and I was wait-listed at American.

I'm just looking for some advice as to where you guys think would be best. Obviously, I still need to hear back from some of my other schools, but I'm still weighing my options.

USC is in an area of the country where I really want to end up, Southern California. Plus, it is the highest ranked law school I have gotten into so far. I haven't heard anything about money from them yet, but I'll update if I do hear anything about that.

Wash U is also a school that I'm really interested in. It, like USC, is in the top 20. Plus, they are giving me 9k a year. St. Louis also seems like a really interesting place to live and go to school. I have scheduled a visit there for April 4th.

Notre Dame, like Wash U, is also giving me money: 20k a year.

So, what is your guys' advice?

What's your LSAT & GPA?

I'm guessing you're something like a 165 and a 3.5?

If a retake is an option, I think that's you best bet.

If not, you could still get better results applying ED.

If you're set on starting this year, then you need to chill, and wait to see what happens with the rest of your apps, and how scholarship negotiations go.

...and weighing them prematurely. Chill.

I'd say this thread is a bit premature...

Not surprising. It's called "yield protection" and American does it to applicants they know are too good for them.
