What schools from the t-14 generally look very favourable to those who write "Optional Essays"?
I know Penn tend to YP those who dont write it if they have good stats, any other schools that have this tendency?

Any non-HYS when evaluating candidates that are clearly overqualified
No school when evaluating candidates clearly in the right range
No school when evaluating candidates that are clearly outside of their accepted range

You see the only three schools with suspiciously high WLs are Penn, UVA, and Michigan. These are the three that care the most about "Why X."

Hmm. Okay thanks. Do you think spending time writing why x statements affect scholarships at all?
