Diversity section/question on application? Forum

One of the schools to which I am applying includes a "diversity" section on the application. The text reads:

Please list any diversity characteristics that you would like to provide: (maximum characters 300)

Is this meant to be where I input my diversity statement? Or is it acceptable to include a longer diversity statement as an addendum? If so, should I put something along the lines of "please see the attached diversity statement"?

Okay, good. That's what I was planning on doing - especially when I realized that they were asking for 300 characters and not words.
