GPA 2.98 LSAT 156
Looking to apply to a big city law school then transfer, any ideas?
So far I got Brooklyn Law, Loyola U Chicago, Pepperdine, Loyola(LA) Chapman University.
Suggestions?

Can't need to be at school by fall unless I apply to schools that take the Feb LSATNova wrote:retake?riku33090 wrote:Suggestions?

Read very quickly and thought I saw OP was accepted to UChi. Why can't you retake?

best plan is to take a year off if your PTs were in the 150s, cause you probably wont peak by Feb.riku33090 wrote:Can't need to be at school by fall unless I apply to schools that take the Feb LSATNova wrote:retake?riku33090 wrote:Suggestions?
but if youre set on your ways, taking feb this year could help you out this cycle
your chances at those schools depend on their medians. if youre below the LSAT median, you have almost no chance.

I can only retake. But i can only apply to schools that take the Feb LSAT. To my knowledge, not many take the Feb LSAT.Winston1984 wrote:Read very quickly and thought I saw OP was accepted to UChi. Why can't you retake?
Also can I apply first then let the schools know that I have a pending LSAT?

Um, why? Is this a Dennis Hopper-ish scenario, where a bomb will go off if you aren't registered somewhere? Don't go to a shithole with no money just because.riku33090 wrote:Can't need to be at school by fall unless I apply to schools that take the Feb LSATNova wrote:retake?riku33090 wrote:Suggestions?

You don't have to go to school this year, end of story.

Because family issues, i already took a year off, parents wont allow me to take another year off.cron1834 wrote:Um, why? Can I apply now and register for the Feb LSAT? Are schools going to see that I have a pending LSAT? Anyone know how this works?

If you're applying for the LSAT, you're an adult. Unless they're offering to pay? I suppose that would change the dynamic.
Otherwise, assert your adulthood.
(But, yes, you can let schools know that you have a test pending. Be sure to check application deadlines, b/c you won't get scores 'til March)

Is there a specific box I need to check when applying to let the schools know that I have a pending test or I need to email them separately?cron1834 wrote:If you're applying for the LSAT, you're an adult. Unless they're offering to pay? I suppose that would change the dynamic.

But this brings another dilemma. Now I have a 156, I would apply to those schools that would consider me. But for a retake I am aiming for a higher score say 163, I would also need to apply to those schools as well. What if i end up getting a even higher score say 167, that means i need to apply to those school as well. It is very wide range of schools i need to apply. Correct?

You will want to contact them directly and check deadlines.
But, really, take a year off. Your folks could pay the same amount for a better school, or pay nothing for a similar school. Much better.

I'm pretty sure your parents want the best for you. Going to a TTT is suicide. Retake.

Yes, but it's still in your best interest to take it. You can use your new and improved scores to get better offers from the schools that you currently got into.riku33090 wrote: Can I apply now and register for the Feb LSAT? Re: GPA 2.98 LSAT 156
Your parents (I assume) mean well, but like most people their age they probably have NO idea what the current legal market is like. They think it's still the 1980s when just having a law degree from somewhere virtually guaranteed a stable middle class life. Show them the statistics, send them articles, etc. Maybe if they see how many people are buried in debt with no job prospects because they paid sticker at substandard schools, they'd understand.
...But really, who cares if they understand? I know you want to have a good relationship with your parents, but c'mon. They won't LET you wait? You're an adult. You don't need their permission.

Take a year off. Retake in June. Show your parents this website and this website, so they understand the importance of getting your score up.
