Under both 25ths, Non-URM...why am I waitlisted at a T14?
A couple weeks ago my ED app to a T14 was waitlisted, which was pretty puzzling to me given the information I mentioned in the title. I have one soft that I think folks here would say falls under the "better than average, but not AMAZING" category, based on my TLS searches on softs. No work experience.
Any idea what's going on here?? Is it my soft that is saving me from the reject pile? Do you think I even have a shot? If given the chance to attend, I would JUMP for the opportunity, I am beginning to send LOCIs and planning my visit. Just wanted some input!

You were just good enough to make it into the, "people we didn't start laughing at when we saw their application," pile.
I sincerely hope you get in. That would be amazing. But remember how low the applicant pool is. That is probably a major reason.

Probably for the same reason people apply to safety schools they will definitely never ever attend.

These responses seem about spot on...ah well maybe next lifetime I will attend a T14. If I get accepted I tell my tales on TLS.

USC/UCLA are pretty good non-T14 runner ups.IgosduIkana wrote:These responses seem about spot on...ah well maybe next lifetime I will attend a T14. If I get accepted I tell my tales on TLS.

Assuming it's GULC.
<25th/<25th are very likely to attend, and attend at sticker... so it's not insane that you could sneak in.

Thought I remembered you saying you were a minority but non-URM (for LS application purposes). With the applicant pool being so low, it's possible they wait-listed you for that particular niche.

And "humble brag" is the absolute dumbest concept I've ever heard from a relatively educated/intelligent people.
Once you stop being so insecure, other people's bragging ceases to be something you have to point out.

Dig this post for its high horseyism coupled with bashing educated people while also making a grammatical mistake in the same sentence.PalmBay wrote:And "humble brag" is the absolute dumbest concept I've ever heard from a relatively educated/intelligent people.

The point wasn't proper grammar or to "bash educated people". The concept is silly, and you know it.BigZuck wrote:Dig this post for its high horseyism coupled with bashing educated people while also making a grammatical mistake in the same sentence.PalmBay wrote:And "humble brag" is the absolute dumbest concept I've ever heard from a relatively educated/intelligent people.

The humble brag concept is actually helpful. It comes out when there is a logical disconnected in what someone is asking. People are not just pointing out an obvious brag; they are answering the question, "why is this person asking this question?"PalmBay wrote:The point wasn't proper grammar or to "bash educated people". Humble braggarts exist.
