Negotiating Help

Post by springfield08 » Sat Dec 28, 2013 3:57 pm

I currently have great scholarship offers from two peer schools ranked higher than my first choice. My first choice school gave me a decent offer but I would like them to at least match one of my better offers. When negotiating with my first choice, should I use both of the scholarship offers during the first round of negotiating to help my chances at getting a better offer, or should I save one for a second possible round of negotiating. Also, my first choice school offered me a scholarship that is pretty close to a full ride, but the stipulations are a little tougher than the other schools.

Thanks for the reply. The three schools I'm considering aren't known for section stacking. One of the schools is offering their scholarship with a good academic standing stipulation and my first choice school is offering a scholarship with a top 50% stip. If anyone has advice on whether or not to include both offers in my initial attempt at negotiating that would be very helpful.

Pick the best offer and approach them with it. As others have said, stips are TTTT. You don't wanna attend on a scholly w/ stips... if they don't budge in the first round or two, be prepared to let them know that.
